Raiymbek Batyr and Nauryzbay Batyr ASD tugs - naming ceremony

As part of the soon to be completed new build program with DeHoop Shipyard in Holland, COC have participated in a naming ceremony for two new build ASD tugboats Raiymbek Batyr and Nauryzbay Batyr, which took place in the Rotterdam Harbour on the 22nd May this year.

In August 2017 COC  awarded DeHoop Shipyard with a shipbuilding contract to design and construct six ASD tugs, which COC will operate in the North Caspian Sea.

To date two Tugs Kabanbay Batyr and Karasay Batyr have arrived to Kazakhstan and will commence their operations in the Prorva Channel shortly. Third tugboat Bogenbay Batyr is currently sailing through the Medditerenian enroute to the Caspian.

The naming ceremony was attended by COC senior management, DeHoop Shipyard management, their contractors, COC senior consortia partners Blue Water Shipping, Tengizchevroil representatives, bankers and H.E. Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to The Netherlands.

Mrs. Olesya Labutina, COC Business Development Coordinator and Mrs. Merey Duzbayeva, representative of EBRD financing bank, had the honour to become God Mothers for Nauryzbai Batyr and Rayimbek Batyr respectively.

The sixth tug Otegen Batyr is scheduled for ex-yard delivery on the 30th May.

The day after the naming ceremony, both Raiymbek Batyr and Nauryzbay Batyr have began their 3,700 mile maiden  voyage to Kazakhstan.

We wish the Master and crew of both vessels a very safe and successful journey!
